Each quarter the team at Monetate analyze a random sample of over 500 million online shopping experiences. This is then complied into their Quarterly report, if you don’t subscribe already find out more here.
Below are 5 key insights from the report:
- Pinterest & Twitter are the main growth areas to focus efforts on for e-commerce retailers. Both saw increases in website traffic generation in Q1 2013 verses the busy festive Q4 2012 period.
- Pinterest generates the highest average order value from all social media sources ($80.54). Time to dust off that Pinterest strategy?
- E-mail marketing is still delivering for large numbers of retailers, but isn’t given the focus it requires because it’s not as current as social media. Take a look at the revenue generated from this channel and re-focus your efforts in this area.
- Traffic from desktops & laptops has shrunk from 89% to 79% in the last 12 months. Tablets and Smartphones have split the gain between them with tablets at 11% and smartphones tracking at 10% of traffic.
- Web traffic from Android tablets has nearly doubled over the last 12 months, but only still represents 8% of tablet traffic. iPads still dominate with 89% of tablet traffic.
